Background

In 2022, Warshin established a nursery and farm in the Qamishli countryside through the association’s own efforts. The early activity records describe preparing the site, digging a well and installing a drip-irrigation network. This created a practical setting for cultivating young trees and supporting the association’s environmental activities.

Objectives

  • Cultivate forest and fruit-tree saplings for local greening work.
  • Provide irrigation and continuing care for young plants.
  • Connect cultivation with environmental learning and community activities.

Activities implemented

  • Site establishment and installation of a well and drip-irrigation network are described in the 2022 nursery record.
  • The report identifies tree varieties including cypress, pine, olive, mulberry and pomegranate.
  • The 2024 activity report describes continuing sapling cultivation and nursery management.

Documented outcomes

The records document the establishment of the nursery and the cultivation and care of saplings. They also describe the nursery’s role in greening and environmental activities. Cultivated nursery stock is distinct from trees planted in the community, and is not presented here as a planted-tree total.

Context & attribution

The early report also describes beekeeping and an intention to support farmers’ small projects. These are reported elements of the nursery’s development; the source does not establish a verified total of farms or livelihoods supported.
