Background

Under the slogan “Environment is Life”, Warshin coordinated with three schools in Qamishli’s Al-Hilaliyeh neighbourhood on schoolyard planting. The activity linked the care of school spaces with children’s participation in cultivation.

Objectives

  • Create green spaces in schoolyards.
  • Involve children in practical planting and care for shrubs.
  • Encourage understanding of environmental responsibility in the places children use every day.

Activities implemented

  • The English and Arabic activity reports describe coordination with three schools and tree planting in their yards.
  • The reports describe children’s involvement in cultivation as a way to encourage responsibility for plants and awareness of the importance of green spaces.
  • The recorded period is 30 October to 1 November 2022.

Documented outcomes

The activity reports record schoolyard planting and the participation of children in the cultivation process. They do not provide a measured educational assessment or a long-term tree-survival evaluation. The documented activity is therefore described without claiming a quantified change in children’s knowledge or behaviour.

Context & attribution

The photographs on this page illustrate Warshin’s environmental education activities. They are not presented as photographs of the specific 2022 schoolyard campaign, and children are not identified by name.
